We live in a beautiful world, but not everyone can see it. 253 million people suffer from vision impairment and 36 million are blind or going blind. Yet, 80% of all vision impairment can now be prevented, treated or cured.<\/p>\n
Created in 2012, the Fondation Th\u00e9a\u00a0aims to promote or assist, in France and abroad, humanitarian or general interest initiatives to aid the fight against blindness and improve eye health.<\/p>\n
Back in the 19th<\/sup> century, Dr. Paul Chibret, a trachoma specialist and founder of the French Society of Ophthalmology (S.F.O.), was a precursor in the humanitarian field on the African continent. Today, his descendants, Henri and Jean-Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Chibret, have perpetuated and strengthened his action in the French- and Portuguese-speaking countries, less assisted than their English-speaking neighbors.<\/p>\n Because trachoma continues to be the most prevalent infectious cause of blindness, it has become the Fondation Th\u00e9a\u2019s top priority.
